If so, you could play an integral part in the next generation of yeast bioprocess technology for industrial biologics manufacturing.
Phenotypeca is a rapidly growing yeast research and commercially focussed Biofoundry business, currently working on bioprocess development for vaccines, diagnostics and therapeutic protein production.
We have the world’s largest collection of yeast strains engineered for industrial recombinant protein production, comprising up to a billion genetically different strains. We are building the ‘go-to’ platform for the development of baker’s yeast strains for industrial-scale manufacture of vaccines, therapeutics, and other recombinant proteins.
These markets had over $200billion in revenue globally in 2020, and there is a massive untapped demand for a cheaper alternative to the currently available platforms. We provide unique strains and intellectual property to our life science customers whilst constantly increasing the speed and value of our platform using automation/robotics and artificial intelligence.
As part of our growth and having successfully won new projects, we are now looking for an experienced sales professional to lead and manage Phenotypeca’s Business Development activities.
Using your sales expertise, you will have the desire and willingness to sell our industrial strain and process platform for our PhenoStart™, PhenoDev™ and PhenoFull™ offerings. You’ll plan and optimise the use of resources and effectively manage the Sales and Marketing budget up to £250,000 and be able to collaborate and communicate with the operations whilst managing customer expectations.

We are based at BioCity Nottingham. However, whilst you may be able to work remotely within the UK, there will be the need to attend monthly management meetings in Nottingham. UK and international travel will be required as necessary to attend sales meetings and conferences.
- A minimum of a BSc in a Life Sciences subject.
- 5+ years’ experience of selling services and/or platform technology to the Life Sciences Sector or Contract Development and Manufacturing Organisations (CDMO) and showing good sales growth over time.
- Demonstrable experience in setting and reporting on sales targets and achievements.
- Miller Heiman experience and show ability to manage complex sales processes.
- Effective time-management skills and the ability to work to customer deadlines.
- Ability to present and communicate in English, orally and in writing, to both highly scientific and non-scientific audiences
- Able to manage the sales pipeline from lead acquisition to contract signing and customer account management afterwards.
