With a degree in Analytical Chemistry, Simeon started work at GSK in County Durham as a Laboratory Analyst. He moved to Severn Trent Laboratories in Coventry and then the Horseracing Forensic Laboratory (now LGC) in Newmarket in 1999 as an Analytical Chemist. Looking to move away from the Lab but utilise his scientific background, Simeon decided to join Acumen Technical Services in August 2000 as a Science Recruitment Consultant. This role allowed Simeon to combine his background within the science industry with his people skills to help Pharma, Biotech and Chemical companies recruit scientists at all levels. His scientific background was essential in understanding the technical terminology required from client job specifications and CVs to successfully identify suitable candidates into permanent and contract roles.
In 2004, Simeon joined Jobs in Science as a Business Development Manager before spotting a gap in the recruitment market for a science job site and setting up Access-Science Jobs in 2004 and moving offices to BioCity in Nottingham. Today, Access-Science Jobs carries over 1000 live jobs from agencies and employers at any one time and has over 50,000 registered scientists.
As the skills shortage in the UK for STEM candidates widens, not all job sites can attract these 'hard to find' candidates, and there are a growing number of roles where a human element is required to reach beyond the active candidates using job sites. Under the company name, N2 Resourcing Ltd offers a highly ethical managed service where Simeon can combine his recruitment experience with online digital processes to help target and attract relevant candidates for his clients.
